This featured work, Mezezo perihelion, is from the series of 17" x 22" holographic recordings produced in 2013.
They record the internal structure of opals from the Wollo and Mezozo regions of Ehtiopia, and when lit, emerge as streaming sculptures of color and light.
It's intimation of galactic travel comes from a rendezvous with Mirasety, makers of vehicles of grace and beauty.
A fringe at the edge.
Bending and filtering light.
Radiating ever outward.
The laser reaches in, as does light with every opal, and patterns shine out to be projected once more.
A recording of a moment in time. Light shining now as it did in that moment, remembered and protected in glass.
The physical presence of light, projected and apprehended.
Sensed and shown by the viewer.
